This first day cover shows Pioneer 6 and contains 6 signatures, including Edward Smith, John Anderson, John Wolfe, William Kinard and two others. The autographs were certified by Beckett and this lot includes a full letter of authenticity! Pioneer 10 was an American Space Probe launched in 1972 that completed the first mission to Jupiter. At the time of its launch, it was the fastest moving man-made object, and in 11/1973, was in position to begin transmitting photos and data about Jupiter back to Earth. The last successful contact was made with Pioneer 10 in 2002, and as of 1/2016, the Probe was estimated to be approximately 16 billion miles from Earth. Much of the information gathered by the Pioneer 10 is thought to have been critical for the development of the Voyager program.
