1936 Original Lou Gehrig Vintage Type 1 Photo as Tarzan. There is a date stamp on the back of the photo of 10/21/1936. The accompanying newspaper clipping states - "Yes, believe it or not - it's Lou Gehrig, the iron man of the New York Yankees. Lou is angling for a role as a movie Tarzan, hence the leopard skin and the other scenery." While Gehrig did audition for the role, it was Olympic star Johnny Weissmuller who was ultimately cast. According to PSA/DNA Classification, a Type I photograph is a 1st generation photo developed from the original negative, during the period (within approximately two years of when the picture was taken).
