This lot includes a black & white 8"x10" photo of George Burns, signed in black sharpie and authenticated by Beckett. Also included is an 8"x10" photo of Steve Allen, signed in black sharpie and inscribed "Best Wishes!", and authenticated by Beckett. George Burns (January 20, 1896 – March 9, 1996) was an American comedian, actor, singer, and writer. He was one of the few entertainers whose career successfully spanned vaudeville, radio, film and television. His arched eyebrow and cigar-smoke punctuation became familiar trademarks for over three quarters of a century. He and his wife, Gracie Allen, appeared on radio, television, and film as the comedy duo Burns and Allen. When Burns was 79, he had a sudden career revival as an amiable, beloved and unusually active comedy elder statesman in the 1975 film The Sunshine Boys, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor . Burns, who became a centenarian in 1996, continued to work until just weeks before his death of cardiac arrest at his home in Beverly Hills. Steve Allen (December 26, 1921 – October 30, 2000) was an American television personality, musician, composer, actor, comedian, writer and advocate of scientific skepticism. He achieved notability as the first host of The Tonight Show, the first late night talk show in 1954. Though he got his start in radio, Allen is best known for his television career. After he hosted The Tonight Show, he went on to host numerous game and variety shows, including his own The Steve Allen Show, I've Got a Secret, and The New Steve Allen Show. He was a regular panel member on CBS' What's My Line?. From 1977 until 1981, he wrote, produced and hosted the award-winning show Meeting of Minds, a series of historical dramas disguised as a talk show. Allen has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a Hollywood theater named in his honor.
