November 2021 Sports Card & Memorabilia Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2021
Unlike the American version of the 1936 Goudey cards, the Canadian version included cards of Minor League players. These cards are more difficult to find, making them even more sought after by serious collectors. This particular lot includes Hall of Fame catcher Ray Schalk, formerly of the 1919 Black Sox team (but not part of the scandal). His name on the front of the card is erroneously spelled Roy. Additional players in this lot include 5 Montreal Royals (Benny Tate, Harry Smythe, more), Bob Seeds from the Newark Bears (also appeared with the NY Yankees in the WS that year), former Major League player Shag Shaughnessy (president of International Minor Leagues), and others. All of these cards are in a very strong VG-VG+ condition.
Condition: VG-VG+
