Following Lou Gehrig's death in June 1941, the Yankees planned to honor Gehrig on the anniversary of his legendary 1939 speech, on July 4, 1941, by placing a monument in center field at Yankee Stadium next to the monument for Yankees manager Miller Huggins and under the plaque on the center field wall for Yankee owner Jacob Ruppert. This is an authentic ticket stub to that game, graded PSA 3. Unfortunately the game on July 4th, was rained out and the Yankees had to reschedule the event for July 6 before a doubleheader with the Philadelphia Athletics. Many of these ticket stubs did not survive, especially with his image intact and well visible.
