RARELY Seen 1951 Wheaties Premium Photos Mickey Mantle Rookie Graded PSA 5

This 1951 Mickey Mantle photo premium is much more rare than his 1951 Bowman rookie card and is graded a PSA 5! The 5" x 7" glossy photo was issued by Wheaties as part of an eight-card premium set in Mantle's first season of 1951. According to a retired General Mills/Wheaties employee, the photo premium cards were produced by the cereal company as a "test issue" to determine the potential popularity that such a set would have with the public. After a brief period, the cards were pulled from circulation because the company was not able to come to terms with two of the pictured players. Only 92 of these 1951 Mickey Mantle Wheaties rookies have been graded by PSA. In comparison, over 2,600 Mickey Mantle 1951 Bowman rookies have been graded by PSA, and over 1,900 Mickey Mantle 1952 Topps cards have been graded by PSA! This is a very rare Mickey Mantle rookie issue!
