Description

1933 Goudey Bill Cissell #26 PSA 2.5 (Autograph Grade 8). This is the highest grade PSA/DNA example that exists - only one other has been graded and it was graded "authentic", so this is by far the best example and a "Pop 1". Chalmer William Cissell (January 3, 1904 - March 15, 1949) felt a heavy burden to perform when Charles Comiskey purchased him from Portland, for a whopping $123,000 in 1928. Cissell never lived up his potential despite topping the 110 hits mark six times in his 9 seasons. Bill played for the White Sox (1928-1932), the Indians (1932-1933) and his last three years at a season each with the Red Sox (1934), A’s (1937) and Giants (1938). Bill Cissell retired with a career .267 batting average with 990 hits, 516 runs, 113 stolen bases and 423 RBI. He also posted a career .950 fielding percentage with 5,421 assists and 2,201 putouts. Bill Cissell died destitute at the age of 45. Part of The Uncle Jimmy Collection.
